ALFRED ONG, who shoots under the pseudonym Espectro, meaning Ghost, is a published Filipino photographer and visual artist based in Manila, who moves between the Philippines, Japan, and Taiwan. His work is about liminality, existence, nostalgia, and melancholy, captured through emotional, atmospheric street photography. Shot mostly in black and white and monochromatic red, his images work like visual poetry, holding a feeling rather than explaining it. He works across film, digital photography, and alternative process, shifting between them as different ways of reaching the same feeling.

He studied Fine Arts at Far Eastern University - Manila, with a background in architecture from the University of Santo Tomas, and worked as an intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. He has also worked with Ephemere, a photography platform and publisher based in Tokyo, Japan, where he served as Assistant Curator for productions including Triplicities and Anthology 3, under the mentorship of Anne Murayama.
